Most of us have had a brand new computer at one time. It’s a great feeling. You boot up windows and within 30 seconds you are surfing the net, checking your email, or playing your favorite game. 10 months down the road things aren’t so nice anymore. You power up your computer and it seems to take forever to load.

This post to the Ubuntu forums details how to create a nested X server in order to run 3D games at full performance under XGL/Compiz. This not specific to Ubuntu and should work for any distro. Linden Labs has forced a password reset for every one of its 642,720+ residents after it was revealed hackers gained access to the entire user database. Customer service will not begin to address password issues until Monday, September 11.

AMD’s PIC (personal Internet computer), an inexpensive Windows CE-based computer aimed at developing nations, has successfully booted Edubuntu, an educationally-oriented version of Ubuntu Linux, according to a Siamese Wiki devoted to the OLPC (One Laptop per Child) initiative.
