Seagate is planning to release this week a new technology to come in the aid of those who need to secure their data. The new system is called DriveTrust and will run as firmware, using it
’s own ‘invisible’ partition that cannot be accessed by the operating system or by the user.

Many people already know that you can connect a computer to a plasma TV, but it is not as well known that you can also hook up a computer to almost any TV. Today, with the absorption of former competitor Maxtor almost complete, Seagate is moving with all speed to deploy its implementation of the Trusted Platform Module, now called DriveTrust, on upcoming Momentus hard drives, including one 2.5″ model for notebook computers, and another for DV-R devices.

We know about the horizontal-bop when it comes to shaggin’ storage bits on your hard drive but what about going perpendicular? Seagate was first to market with their Barracuda ES line of SATA drives that bring perpendicular recording technology to the table with insane areal density per platter. 750GB not enough? Try a pair in RAID 0 for 1.5TB.

ATI is adding another member to the X1K family of products, the Radeon X1650 XT. While its name suggests the X1650 XT is nothing more than a higher clocked variation of the Radeon X1650 Pro, that’s not the case. The Radeon X1650 Pro is based on a new GPU, formerly code-named RV560, that is more powerful than anything else in the X16×0 family.
