For better or for worse, today’s official launch of the Core 2 Quad Q6600 puts us well into the quad-core era. Not even Hennessy and Patterson, much less the coders at the world’s largest software company, can think of enough ways to keep all four cores busy, but here we are nonetheless…

This is picture of AT&T Headquarters Network Monitoring room. It features 144 screens monitoring all of AT&T’s voice and data lines worldwide. If I didn’t know better, I’d say it was a movie set or fake but it’s real. Pretty amazing, I wonder what the overall screen resolution of their screens is? 1,000,000,000×100,000?!?!?

Sapphire expects to launch this in the next month or so but we having feeling it will be a limited release type of product. Word is a $399 price point is being targeted. And as you can see, there are CrossFire edge connectors on the top side of the card, so quad CrossFire is a possibility.

As if two hi-def formats aren’t enough, a British tech developer is readying a third for market over the next few months.
HD VMD boasts the capacity of HD DVD and Blu-ray discs, but uses existing DVD technology, making for much lower costs.
